CHAPTER 730 Garage Sales CHAPTER 730 Garage Sales 730.01 Number of sales limited. 730.02 Length of sales. 730.03 Permit required. 730.04 Signs. 730.05 Conflict. 730.06 Number of sales of motor vehicles, boats, recreational vehicles, and trailers. 730.99 Penalty. The sale of personal property from residences and/or any other structures or land located in the City zoned for residential use and/or from residences or other structures adjacent to or auxiliary to residences in areas of the City zoned for any use other than residences (hereinafter referred to as "garage sales") shall be limited to no more than two sales per calendar year at any residence. (Ord. 81-84. Passed 7-24-84.) 730.02 LENGTH OF SALES. Each sale shall not exceed more than three calendar days per sale. (Ord. 81-84. Passed 7-24-84.) 730.03 PERMIT REQUIRED. Any individual, corporation, or other entity whatsoever which conducts a garage sale shall obtain from the Finance Director, a permit for such sale. All such permits shall have a number and the number shall be placed on any sign erected to advertise, give notice of or otherwise make known the fact that a garage sale is being carried on. (Ord. 81-84. Passed 7-24-84.) 730.04 SIGNS. Any sign erected to advertise, give notice or otherwise make known the fact that a garage sale is being carried on shall not exceed 28 inches by 36 inches in size and shall be erected on stakes and on private property and shall under no circumstances be placed or attached to utility poles. All such signs bear the number of the permit referred to hereinabove. All such signs shall be removed or caused to be removed by the individual who obtains the permit within twenty-four hours after the conclusion of the garage sale. (Ord. 98-86. Passed 11-25-86.) 730.05 CONFLICT. Nothing in this chapter shall in any way modify, amend or otherwise change any presently existing ordinances of the City and shall not make legal any activity that is presently illegal in the City pursuant to ordinances of the City, statutes of the State or any other laws or regulations whatsoever. (Ord. 81-84. Passed 7-24-84.) 730.06 NUMBER OF SALES OF MOTOR VEHICLES, BOATS, RECREATIONAL VEHICLES, AND TRAILERS. The sale of motor vehicles, boats, recreational vehicles and trailers from residences and/or any other structures or land located in the City of Sheffield Lake, Ohio zoned for residential use and/or from residences or other structures adjacent to or auxiliary to residences and areas of the City zoned for any use other than residences shall be limited to no more than two sales of motor vehicles, boats, recreational vehicles, and trailers or any combination thereof per calendar year at any such residence and/or any other structure or land located in the City zoned for residential use and/or from residences or other structures adjacent to or auxiliary to residences in areas of the City zoned for any use other than residences. (Ord. 40-99. Passed 9-14-99.) 730.99 PENALTY. Any individual, corporation or other entity whatsoever who violates any provision of this chapter shall be guilty of a minor misdemeanor for each violation. Each day that a garage sale is conducted or signs are improperly erected pursuant to this chapter shall constitute a separate offense. (Ord. 81-84. Passed 7-24-84.)
